The International Detailing Association (est. 2008) is a leading global association for professional detailing operators, suppliers, and consultants to the industry. The association is dedicated to promoting the value of professional detailing services, the recognition of professional detailing as a trade, and empowering detailing industry professionals at each stage in their careers.

If you are serious about your success in the detailing industry, then you should join the IDA. The IDA was formed to help all detailing professionals, anywhere in the world, grow and improve themselves and their businesses. Whether you are an operator, distributor, manufacturer, or institution in the detailing industry, you will gain from your membership in this worldwide organization. The IDA is serious in its efforts to grow the detailing industry and wants to partner with anyone serious about detailing.

International Detailing Association membership comes in three phases. The first phase is a basic membership – signup on the IDA website and an annual fee. This can then immediately be followed by a theory-based Certified Detailer (CD) examination, either completed online or in person with us, after which you can identify your business with the IDA CD badging.

Phase II (the Skills Validated tests) is a practical assessment with a qualified IDA Registered Trainer, and is available to complete at UK Detailing Academy along with two other locations in the UK.

The practical test – which should take no more than two hours to complete – represents the four primary categories that each candidate must demonstrate their “hands-on” ability to perform.

The detailer must perform each phase of the testing on their own, and meet the minimum proficiency expected to pass. The exam is presented in a scenario-type format to allow the detailer to demonstrate the abilities expected of an advanced detailing professional.

Phase II Skills Validation testing demonstrates hands-on skills and in-person testing by an IDA Recognized Trainer (RT) in areas covered in the written exams: Wash Bay/Prep, Interior, Exterior Correction, and Finishing Steps. Each portion of the test will be a one-on-one teacher-to-student session. UK Detailing Academy holds a bi-monthly assessment date which you can sign up for and book live on the IDA website, or for more information and a chat, fill out our contact form below and someone will be in touch.
